I have questions regarding my membership and no one is getting back to me after numerous attempts and I can’t get a refund for the inaction.
I bought this app so that I could have one place for my glucose, exercise and food logs. I was using MyFitnessPal to track my food and a paper log to track my glucose and wanted one place to see the data and get a better picture of what’s going on. The food tracker is really frustrating. The barcode doesn’t work and their data base of food is so small that it doesn’t have Daves Killer Bread Good Seed or any Good Culture products - things I eat every day! And the log displays individual food items without the option of just displaying meals, so my simple avocado egg toast breakfast ends up taking up 6 line items in the log. Really disappointed as food is the first line of control in managing my gestational diabetes.
I have a great deal of love for this app. I finally am able to view my blood measure any time. It slows me to know.what I fave to eat to control my diabetes.
I am a Premium user on IOS 11.4.1. The latest update is not allowing input of meds. The app freezes. I’m unable to scroll. My email address was removed from my settings info which is why the app and website will not recognize me as a user of the app. The website support is non existent. Please fix the bug. This isn’t a good thing! I clicked to write a review to ask for help. The form came up as an edit of the above review. I’m certain this is not a review I’ve written. Tech support is needed. I’ve written to them at their email address as well as used the form online. No response. Is there no one from tech support monitoring these emails and questions? Update: I have cancelled my subscription that I’ve had for a number of years. It makes me sad that this wonderful app is now not working and is useless.
Last time I emailed their support I never got a response. My stupidity in deciding to try this app again. Following are some of the frustrations with this app - note that I subscribed to the premium tier 1. It doesn’t read anything from Apple health other than steps. Any blood glucose readings that are in apple health will not be viewable in the app. 2. It doesn’t write anything to Apple health. Any blood glucose readings you enter here are not viewable anywhere but this app. 3. Scanning barcodes is hit or miss. First one I tried was not found. 4. It will read steps from Apple health, but doesn’t include exercise (or anything else). 5. Careful if trying the 7 day free trial. I got immediately billed as I had tried this app years ago. Didn’t inform me that the free trial was no longer available - very sneaky.
App tracks what it says it will track and more! I track my blood glucose and my blood pressure on this app. It also pulls from Apple health apps if you allow it.
Update: A mere 2 months later, it appears they have fixed this bug. Or the app makes you delete a medication 50-100 times before it decides you really meant to delete it …. This is a great app that I have used for years. However, it currently has a bug that I have reported 3 times now to no avail, starting on November 11, 2024. I use the medication tracker daily to keep up when I take my medication but the app no longer lets you delete medications you no longer take.
You get blasted with subscription spam constantly. This app clearly isn’t about users anymore and is focused on making money for the portfolio. Look at other options.
I enjoyed Glucose Buddy for eight months until it suddenly quit working, logging me out. The password I used was no longer recognized. I even tried to log into the web site with the same unsuccessful result. I sent numerous emails to their support with no response. There is no phone published for them. That tells its own story. I ended up creating a new login, losing eight months of data.
This is of no use to me ir anyone else for that matter
After jumping through all the hoops to get into the app to be told app not active. ‘DELETE’
Just downloaded this today, and trying to add Ozempic to the meds. The only dosage periods are 1-6 times a day, versus once weekly. So, I had to turn off its monitoring. I was also told by my physician to measure my blood sugar about 2 hours after a meal, but preferably at least once in the morning and once before I go to bed. But the app pinged me to take a measurement almost immediately after eating. There also doesn’t seem to customize the blood sugar range - my doctor wants me to control it in a more narrow range than the average. Lastly, the photo of food seems to be a great tool but maybe I am not using it right to measure a mixed ingredient meal like stew to capture quantities of each ingredient. I will let you all know if my experience improves.
Free app got great points for ability to track not only glucose, meds, BP, A1c, etc. BUT can’t generate bi-monthly reports any longer on the free app. To generate reports requires an email address. Mine has been deleted and I’m not able to re-enter it. I’ve sent an email to support with no reply after a week. I can only assume this is because I don’t subscribe, i.e. I’m a freeloader.
I’m not diabetic, but I have family members who are. One recommended this to me. I tried to input my morning coffee and I can’t use normal cream so I tried to put my silk half-and-half. The user experience is not very good on the base level, making it look like you can customize. It should say “This is a Premium Feature” or something. I cannot put in custom info, but it tells me to put in the calories? Here it has a crown (indicating premium), but it allows you into that section? Guess it’s black coffee or individual parts? Just shouldn’t allow adding custom items in user experience just put a crown next on that tab and block the whole section.
This app is extremely handy when it comes to helping me log food, carbs and insulin. It helps me keep track of when to give insulin and how much, counting carbs etc. Been using it for years BUT: Needs an update! It can no longer find any barcode that I scan, and when I actually am able to log carbs, the carb count is incorrect. Ex: if I’m eating 45 carbs of rice, the app keeps trying to turn that 45 count into 1600. Please fix these bugs so that we can accurately log our carb count. :)
The food library has a large amount of poor food carb data. However or whoever is building the library is allowing items to be revised/changed without notice.

After getting out of the hospital less than 2 months ago: I’ve been able to lose 31.2lbs (as of today) and taken my a1c down almost 2%. It’s very easy to use; keeps track of my glucose levels, body weight, calorie intake, counts macros. I literally tell everyone, I couldn’t have done this well for this long had it not been for this app. No fast food or take out. Knowing I’d have to log that in the app, makes me want to go eat something healthy from my own kitchen! Thank you!
I use this to record my sugar very intuitive and accurate. Easily export your record as well. Recommended!
This is great and helpful and has been essential in my 4 1/2 year, diabetic journey. I do suggest it but also suggest looking for something else. Occasionally this app gets bug fix updates although even that is rare. In fairness the app has always been VERY stable. There was an issue once and it was fixed in very quickly. It’s missing a number of things. For example when I add a medicine you are asked how often you take it. You can pick once a day to six times a day. Where is the option for “X” times a week or month. You also need to include the medicine’s unit. There is no option for ml. Many people pay for this app. No major features have been added to the app in a long time. How about a some widgets and an Apple Watch app? I’m not sure I have a reason to use this app. There are others out there that can track your BG and meds for free including the built in Apple Health app. This app does offer some other features and if you use them regularly that’s fantastic. I don’t so why am I paying for this? I also don’t use their monitor I use what’s covered by my health insurance.
Great app! It has helped me to go from a A1c of 9.9+ to 8.1 in less than a year! It’s easy to use, and it works great with my meter, Apple Watch, bathroom scales, etc! The only thing that you have to enter is the food you eat! And the report is great way to send your doctor!
Would be perfect if the meal IQ log would be editable, like the time. Once it's saved as dinner and with the current time, you cannot change it to lunch with a different time. It's partly editable but won't actually change it. Meal IQ is amazing, but has it's bugs. When adding an item or editing the portions the nutritional values and servings change. Protein to 0 g and cups to unequal ounces. Regardless, it's an incredibly helpful tool to help me manage and track my gestational diabetes. The most complete from other apps that I have tried. Thank you! I'll buy premium if the bugs get fixed and add syncing of health app workouts.
Glucose buddy makes my life so much easier. No more tracking with pen and pencil. I love all the great options. The only thing I would like to see is a GKI conversion when glucose & ketones are logged.
This APP has made managing my Diabetes so much less stressful.
Lots of potential, but does not support Dexcom CGM. Without it your unable to use Meal IQ. For 40 dollars a year it should be able to connect to one the leading CGMs on the market. Also the support is nonexistent. Stay away from this app if you value your money.
I’ve been using this for years off and on, and I always come back to it. There’s a few things I wish they would improve but all in all it can’t be beat.
Just tried to do a trial and app kept trying to get me to pay. Deleted app and moving on.
It
So I downloaded this app on the free 7 day trial and liked it enough to keep it. I didn’t cancel and it automatically charged my credit card. All is well. Then on the 8th day, after my credit card was charged the app all of a sudden stopped transferring the data. A1C and current log of all the tests came to an abrupt halt. I wrote tech support and have yet to get a response. Therefore I went back to my old app and requested a refund and have deleted the app from my device. If that’s the best you can do then I don’t need your app
It was a good app until it crashed. Was told app is no longer supported on Android!! This is right after we paid an annual subscription for the app, now we are having difficulty getting refunded for the subscription cost which was just renewed!!
Easy to use. Simple and helps keep track of anything important.
I did the free trial but I can’t figure out how to cancel it before I get charged. It’s too complicated for what I need. The database doesn’t have the brands of food I normally buy and I have to type everything in.
I just recently downloaded glucose buddy and am enjoying the app, I plan on upgrading to the premium version to help get me back on track with my diabetes. Thanks for developing this awesome app and program too.
I’d love to be able to use this app to help my newly diagnosed son manage his blood sugars, however, neither one of us can sign up due to our emails containing a hyphen. Apparently when entering characters for the email on the sign up screen hyphens and other characters are not allowed.
I have used other apps in the past. But Glucose Buddy by far is the easiest and most detailed health app I’ve used. DjL.
I have been using the app for over 2yrs. I love it, I enter my weight my height, my medication that I take on a daily basis the food that I eat for breakfast lunch dinner even a snack it helps me to keep track of my A-1 C if needed. It works great with Dexcom 6. I wish there it would work even better with Dexcom 7 in the future but I left this app and tried another one but I came back to this app. It works the best, for me.
Right out the start asking for personal information that an app like this should have no business asking. There is no reason at all my personal information should be required to use a logbook. Another garbage app.
My daughter has just been diagnosed with type 1 this has been such a helpful tracker
It does what I need it to and more!
To have a quality life requires keeping good records. Keeping score in your health progress is critical. Your software provides me that option! Thank you.
A1c isn’t updating. Not going to continue to keep the subscription if not fixed
It would be helpful if you could add weekly to the frequency for medication. I have two diabetic medications that are taken weekly, not once or more per day. I’ve tried multiple times to pair my Dexcom with Glucose Buddy only to become increasingly frustrated. The app says it pairs easily with CGMs, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I’ve followed Glucose Buddy’s self help to no avail. When I select Dexcom in Glucose Buddy’s app I receive the following error, including after following the “helpful tips”, “ The client application is not known or is not authorized.” Part of the appeal of Glucose Buddy was that I could sync my Dexcom. My Dexcom is synced with Health, but Health only updates my Dexcom data every three hours. Posting my glucose every three hours is ineffective and minimizes the usefulness of Glucose Buddy.
I love the app and use it daily. The only thing missing for me is a notes log which isn’t part of the other logs. I’d love to use it as a diary.
I like the app and the speakers, but I’m just realizing that set to auto renew in here and I don’t necessarily want it to do that from reading it said you can control that within the app. I haven’t found a way to turn that off as of yet, I’ve looked at everything everywhere there’s no button to flip off auto renew.
Why do all of these apps charge $$ to use them? Diabetic supplies and meds are costly enough!
Wanted to try the free version of this app to see if it is worth it to pay for it. I declined the paid program and the app simply won’t load. Continues to say “updating glucose buddy” and then times out over an over again. Tried troubleshooting the connection and restarted my phone. No issues anywhere else, so it seems it is just this app. What a waste of time.
It’s not a good sign that this has not been updated in 5 months. It shows. On the latest version of iOS and an iPhone 14 pro max the app crashes continually. It is unusable.
Have used this app for several years. My only real complaint is that the a1c doesn’t update when I add a lab result. If the app estimates my a1c at 6.8 and I enter a lab result of 7.6 it still shows 6.8. Have contacted support twice about this and have never heard from them. If they ever corrected this it would be perfect. This is very annoying. May not renew next time and look for something different.
This would be an almost perfect app if it synced to HealthKit. I've enabled it im settings, all permissions are given (toggles are on) but syncing from Glucose Buddy to Health app is not working. I've tried logging out, reinstalling the app, nothing works.
